BACKGROUND:
ON DECEMBER 13, 2000, AN INFORMATIONAL NOTICE WAS ISSUED INSTRUCTING
THE TRADE COMMUNITY TO FILE A NON-ABI ENTRY IF CLAIMING CBTPA AND
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN CLAIMED WAS DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, COSTA RICA,
EL SALVADOR, GUATEMALA, HAITI, PANAMA OR JAMAICA. THIS IS TO NOTIFY
THE TRADE COMMUNITY THAT THE CUSTOMS SERVICE HAS COMPLETED THE
NECESSARY PROGRAMMING FOR AUTOMATED FILING THROUGH AUTOMATED BROKER
INTERFACE (ABI) FOR ALL CBTPA ENTRIES.
ACTION:
AT THIS TIME, ALL CLAIMS FOR CBTPA PREFERENTIAL TARIFF TREATMENT MAY
BE FILED VIA AN ABI ENTRY. FILERS, NO INFORMATION IS TO BE
TRANSMITTED IN THE "51" (VISA/CATEGORY NUMBER) RECORD OF YOUR
ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION WHEN MAKING A CBTPA CLAIM.
INFORMATION:
