FOR SOME TIME CBP HAS BEEN ENCOURAGING PARTICIPANTS IN THE TRUCK AMS
SYSTEM TO USE LEGITIMATE CBPF 7512 NUMBERS WITH CHECK DIGITS OR
PAPERLESS INBOND NUMBERS ('V' NUMBERS WITH CHECK DIGITS) INSTEAD OF
SHIPMENT CONTROL NUMBERS (BILL OF LADING NUMBERS) IN INBOND MOVEMENTS.
THIS WOULD AVOID INTERNAL PROCESSING PROBLEMS INVOLVED WITH SHIPMENT
CONTROL NUMBERS. COMMENCING WITH MAY 4, 2007, TRUCK AMS PARTICIPANTS
WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO USE SHIPMENT CONTROL NUMBERS AS INBOND CONTROL
NUMBERS, AND WILL HAVE TO USE CBPF 7512 OR PAPERLESS INBOND NUMBERS FOR
INBOND MOVEMENTS. CHANGES IN THE INBOND PROCEDURE HAVE BEEN OUTLINED
IN THE ANSI X 12 309 SET AND EDIFACT CUSCAR DATED 050407, AND RECORD OF
CHANGES IN X 12 AND EDIFACT, WHICH WILL BE POSTED TO CBP.GOV SHORTLY.

IN THE 309 SET THE WORDING IN THE M1202 AND M1206 HAS BEEN CHANGED TO
ELIMINATE REFERENCES TO USING THE SHIPMENT CONTROL NUMBER AS AN INBOND
CONTROL NUMBER.

IN THE CUSCAR, THE GENERAL NOTE FOR THE DOC0365 SEGMENT HAS BEEN CHANGED
TO DROP THE SHIPMENT CONTROL NUMBER AS HAS BEEN THE EXPLANATORY NOTE
FOR DOC0365 C503.

IN THE FUTURE THIS CAPABILITY MAY BE RESTORED.
