On November 25, 2008, the Security Filing Interim Rule (Rule) was published in the Federal Register [http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2008/pdf/E8-27048.pdf]. By its terms, the Rule becomes effective on January 26, 2009. As of December 3, 2008, the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) I.T. systems are available to authorized filers for filing Security Filings. This includes Certification and Production environments for the ISF-10, the ISF-5, the Vessel Stow Plan and the Container Status Messages. New file formats reflecting the “flexibility” aspects of the Interim Final Rule will also be available on December 3, 2008. Please see the CBP web site for more information.
