Please direct this communication to your IT support personnel to ascertain whether the required change described is appropriate for your current CBP network connectivity solution.
Trade partners connecting to the CBP Trade VPN, via high speed Internet, with a dynamic software VPN client, must immediately implement a change to the client software VPN settings. The change is not disruptive to the present network connectivity settings. However, until the change is made, clients will not be automatically connected to the CBP disaster recovery location in the event of a catastrophic failure. By replacing the current IP address with a DNS name (Domain Name System) and adding a backup server, network connectivity will be enabled to either primary or secondary CBP datacenters.

Please complete the change by 1200 EST on December 31, 2009, in order for CBP to meet an Office of Management and Budget (OMB) mandate.
