Background:

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is committed to the many modernization efforts being developed across the agency. To that end, CBP has been diligent in its outreach and in keeping the greater trade community engaged and informed with respect to upcoming changes and potential impacts to all industry sectors. In particular, the ACE Business Office has been consistent in communicating that as new modules of ACE are deployed, corresponding modules in ACS will be decommissioned, making ACE the only system available for that functionality.

Most recently, CBP announced that in the near term, new functionality will be deployed that will make additional strides to achieving a more holistic approach to the import process. This functionality includes, M1- Ocean and Rail Manifest, the Document Image System, Cargo Release, and integration of the Participating Government Agency message set. The deployment of this new functionality will result in required programming changes for both existing and new functionality scheduled to be delivered as part of ACE.

We want to ensure you are aware that CBP has been invited to speak at an upcoming National Customs Broker and Forwarder Association of America (NCBFAA) meeting on March 6-8 to address all of the upcoming programming changes.
