U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is expanding its Automated Commercial Environment Document Image System pilot in the summer of 2013. Highlights include:

• Fewer metadata requirements;
• Increased number of Partner Government Agencies forms eligible for electronic submission; and
• Submission of specific Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service forms at time of manifest.

CBP encourages vendors and filers to begin testing the expanded DIS capabilities and specifically, the reduced metadata. The Implementation Guide describing how to prepare for the upcoming pilot expansion is available online.

A Federal Register Notice will be published in the near future announcing the expansion of the pilot.
