U.S. Customs and Border Protection Area Port of Champlain's 2nd “Trade Day” will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014. This event will follow the same format as our last Trade Day (held on March 28, 2012) by providing an opportunity for members of the trade community to meet with the CBP officials and representatives from Partner Government Agencies who are responsible for facilitating the importation of goods into the United States while enforcing trade laws.

The Trade Day activities will be held in a blocked-off area of the 1st Floor Cargo Warehouse, located at 237 West Service Road in Champlain, NY. We will hold four separate but identical sessions to accommodate busy schedules. The morning sessions will run from 8:00 to 10:00 and 10:00 to 12:00, and the afternoon sessions from 1:00 to 3:00 and 3:00 to 5:00. There is no cost to attend this event, but on-line registration will be required. Registration for each session will be limited to 25 people.

There will be no formal presentations. Members of the trade community will be encouraged to bring questions and to interact on a one-on-one basis with the CBP and Partner Government Agency professionals who are responsible for enforcing U.S. trade laws while processing and facilitating import transactions. This event is intended as an opportunity for members of the trade community to meet the Area Port Trade Staff and our partners to gain general information that is relevant to their issues, and to establish contacts for future reference.

Partner Government Agencies who are scheduled to participate in this Trade Day with CBP are the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Food and Drug Administration, US Fish and Wildlife, the US Department of Agriculture, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, and Canada Border Services Agency. Representatives will also be on-site from the CBP Buffalo C-TPAT office and various disciplines within CBP including Cargo Officers, Agriculture Specialists, Import Specialists, and Entry Specialists. Information will be available relating to the importation of commercial goods, the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) and the recent automation of exports from the US, and the Centers of Excellence and Expertise (CEEs).

Register for the event at this site: www.champlain-tradeday.eventbrite.com. You’ll be asked to select the session you’d like to attend and the number of reservations for that session.
