In the coming weeks, CBP's Trade Transformation Office will be modernizing its mass email capabilities by transitioning to a new platform for issuing CSMS messages. While overall impacts to end users will be minimal, the upgraded system will include benefits such as improved message formatting and the elimination of duplicate messages. Some noteworthy changes will include a new identification numbering system and a new archive structure. In addition, please note that current recipients of CSMS messages will not be required to re-subscribe as part of this transition; all existing subscriptions will be maintained.
To view CSMS messages following the transition, users will navigate to the new CSMS webpage, which can be accessed via the link found in the attached New CSMS Page information sheet. This new page has been created in advance of the transition so that users may try out the new CSMS archive structure. On the new CSMS webpage, users will find links to the previous 100 messages. To access older messages, users can open the file located at bottom of the page and search (Ctrl+F) for messages by CSMS number, title, or date.
More information regarding how to access the archives can be found in the attached New CSMS Page information sheet.
As part of this transition, we will also discontinue the use of SMS messaging to phone numbers. Please make sure you are signed up to receive updates via email.
We look forward to the enhancements that will result from this effort. Additional details on the transition will be provided in the coming weeks, including information on the discontinuation of the current CSMS archive.
