PROCESSING UPDATE FOR TEXTILES AND TEXTILE PRODUCTS
REFERENCE: TBT-01-008
BACKGROUND:
IN THE JANUARY 30, 2001 AGOA IMPLEMENTATION INSTRUCTIONS THE TRADE

COMMUNITY THAT THE CUSTOMS SERVICE HAS COMPLETED THE NECESSARY
PROGRAMMING FOR AUTOMATED FILING THROUGH AUTOMATED BROKER INTERFACE
(ABI) FOR ALL AGOA ENTRIES.
EDITS HAVE BEEN PUT IN PLACE TO ENSURE THAT THE PROPER TARIFF NUMBER
IS USED AND CLAIMS ARE MADE FOR ONLY ELIGIBLE COUNTRIES. PLEASE REFER
TO ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGES 01-0388, 01-0389, 01-0390 AND 01-0391 FOR
THOSE EDITS.
ACTION:
AT THIS TIME, ALL CLAIMS FOR AGOA PREFERENTIAL TARIFF TREATMENT MAY
FILED VIA AN ABI ENTRY. FILERS ARE REMINDED THAT THE FIRST NUMBER
THE AGOA VISA MUST MATCH THE GROUPING NUMBER.
THE PORTS NO LONGER NEED TO FAX COPIES OF THE UTILIZED VISAS TO THE
NEW YORK STRATEGIC TRADE CENTER (NYSTC). ANY VISAS RECENTLY PRESENTED
ON A NON-ABI ENTRY SHOULD STILL BE FORWARDED TO THE NYSTC.
INFORMATION:
FILERS WITH SYSTEM/PROCESSING QUESTIONS SHOULD NOTIFY THE LOCAL ACS
CLIENT REPRESENTATIVE. CUSTOMS OFFICERS MAY REFER SYSTEM QUESTIONS
TO JOHN PIERCE, QUOTA/VISA BRANCH, AT (202) 927-5396 OR VIA CC:MAIL.
