U.S. Customs and Border Protection has added additional information to the “Bond Sufficiency Details” portlet. If the bond is insufficient the portlet will now display the “Insufficiency Reason.” A “Comment” field has also been provided. Up until this point, the only way the trade community could learn why a particular bond was insufficient was if they communicated directly with the knowledgeable CBP office/officer. This functionality will provide immediate, detailed information as to why a bond has been rendered insufficient.
Insufficiency reasons are as follows:
• Bond Liability Amount Must Be Increased – Import Volume
• Bond Liability Amount Must Be Increased – Outstanding Debt
• Bond Liability Amount Must Be Increased – Passenger/Railcar Fees
• Address Incorrect – Mail Being Returned as “Undeliverable”
• Debit Vouchers Associated with a Party on the Bond
• Invalid Termination Request Filed w/CBP
• Required Documentation Missing
• Invalid EIN Listed on the Bond
• Failure to Deposit Required Cash-in-Lieu of Surety
• Other – See Comments
